The photographs were taken durring September 2000 in two cemetaries resideing with in Italy (also, Michalangleo' Baccus is added for good measure). The most spectacular in pecquilarity was by far the Milan Necropolis. So much lavish attention was executed on the tombs and monuments that I was taken aback and shocked. The cities of dead that Italy sprouted was so vastly different than anything I had ever beheld, instantly I knew the subject matter of my next exhibition would have to be, Necropolis Imago, Images of cities of dead. Latin style.

| I wispered a fast prayer to Papa Legba as I became aware of the scope of this vast Necropolis I was treading upon. Indeed it was as if a city and her population were transfixed to stone and bronze. It seemed as though the spirits of the departed had adopted the monument dedicated to them by there loving and living anscestors. The sky cryed for them, and a soft rainfall began to patter against the stoneworks. Softly I had opened a door to there benign possesion, and was moved by the supple tides of etherworldly guideance. I began ducumenting them with my little camera. The statues began to tell a tale in hushed wispers to me. Two stories is what I understood. One of Asscension and one of Mourning. |
